Writing for Today's More Distracted Readers

Writing for Today's More Distracted Readers

No one reads the way they did 25 years ago. Make that 10 years ago.

Readers are on the move. On their phones. More distracted and mobile than ever before.

And yet, companies still produce content as if it’s 1999. Content with long, wordy sentences and with paragraphs deeper than the Pacific Ocean. Content that gets to the strategic message at the end, rather than at the beginning (where it belongs).

Content that’s passive, boring, filled with jargon and lacking detail.

In just one day, this workshop will equip your writers with almost 100 simple, actionable techniques for making their writing more concise. More compelling. AND much more effective. Writing more likely to convince and persuade the millions out there who have undergone the ‘Reader Revolution.’

  • Employee profiles
  • Marketing materials
  • Social media posts
  • Web content, and more

What will they gain from this workshop?
Better insights into:

  • Appreciating how the recent reader revolution affects how we must write today
  • Identifying the central message in one’s content
  • Getting to that point up front
  • Writing sentences for today’s distracted reader
  • Presenting paragraphs for today’s mobile reader
  • Breaking content up with directional subheads
  • Enhancing one’s writing with compelling vocabulary
  • Structuring sentences around people, not things
  • And so much more!

Throughout the day, they’ll see compelling examples of corporate writing done well and corporate writing gone astray. They’ll also come away with their answers to the exercises we’ll undertake to hone their writing and a robust resource sheet that will help them enhance their content in the weeks going forward.
